Burn through the boring: why I started making hard hat stickers

Hard hat stickers in the construction industry

If you've spent more than 5 minutes on the job site you already know. You look around and everyone's hard hat looks like a carbon copy of the next.

You've got the standard issue company logo, the mandatory safety orientation pass, and then the exact same handful of "custom" stickers everyone else bought online.

After almost a decade in the welding industry I got tiered of seeing it. Our gear is our identity out here. We spent 50, 60, sometimes 70 hours a week under the hood, breathing in grinding bust and slanging steel. So why does our welding hood flair look like it came out of the exact same bargain bin from 2008?

Deep dive into "generic blue collar"

I figured I wasn't looking in the right places so I fired up my laptop to hunt don't some actual unique stickers. I spent hours scrolling through sticker sites, tool supply shops, and online marketplaces. You know what I found? It's all the same rerolling the exact same designs, phrases, and clipart.

Nobody was making anything that actually captured the real, unfiltered, hilarious reality of modern trade work. Were where the inside jokes? The actual humor of telling your boss off? The funny safety satire? The stuff that's actually real and makes your crew laugh when you pull your hood up.

It's been the same bland, cookie cutter stuff for years because most companies don't work in the trade they just print it.

If you want it done right you to it yourself

My welder logic kicked in, if nobody makes the stuff you need you build it. I started sketching and writing down ideas straight from the job site. I didn't want corporate friendly, generic art. I wanted.

  • Real Blue Collar Wit: jokes, memes, and references that people putting in the work would actually get.
  • Bold Original Art: no stock clip-art skulls or basic fonts. Clean lines, punchy colors, and original illustration styles.
  • Built Tough: stickers printed on heavy-duty, weather resistant, UV protected vinyl that can take the beating hard hats go through everyday.

From the gang box to your hood

What started out as a few prints for me and my crew blew up fast. The first day I walked onto the site with my new stickers slapped onto my hard hat half of the hands were asking where I got them from. That's when I realized I wasn't the only one looking for something new.

We deserve stickers that actually reflect who we are not what a suit in an office thinks a trades person looks like.
